DeLorean wine/Napa Tour

by Ryan McCaffrey

Our 2005 club year is officially underway, and it kicked off with a bang. For those that weren't there, you missed out on a great event. Hopefully we'll see you next time.

Three DeLoreans - me and my fiance, Jeff Angwin, and Steve Dunne and his wife - met in San Bruno (four if you count an under-the-weather Christian, who said hello and then headed home). From there we enjoyed a beautiful 80-mile caravan up Highway 1, over the Golden Gate Bridge, and then through the gorgeous North Bay before we rendezvoused at the Rutherford Grill with Ken and his wife, Lorraine, and Heath and his wife. Everybody's lunches were fantastic and we had parking separate from everyone else and together.

From there we enjoyed a stunning six-DeLorean caravan though downtown St. Helena and to the tucked-away Venge Vineyards winery. Chris, whom I coordinated this with, and Kirk, the owner, were there waiting for us, along with Brian from the Sacramento area. So we had seven DeLoreans all lined up in front of the winery, which of course made for some great photo opportunities.

Chris, Kirk, and the staff treated us like family (a side note: we had the place to ourselves and they were kind enough to waive the tasting fee). Even their beautiful Golden Retriever Lucy treated every last person like her best friend. We got a beautiful tour of the century-plus-old site, got to sample each of the three DMC-branded wines, and also got to try out a few of Kirk's other wines. We were all so enamored with the wines that literally everyone ordered at least something.

Also, the weather was flawless and, assuming everyone made it home okay, I'd like to make a bold statement and say that the event went fantastically for everyone involved.

To conclude this long post, I'd like to thank all of you who attended. I hope you had as great a time as Kristin and I did, and I look forward to seeing you all at our next event, which is scheduled to be the Pacific Coast Dream Machines mega show in Half Moon Bay on April 24. I'll post details about that soon.

All the best, Ryan McCaffrey #10014
